History of the Credit Union
Carolina Family Credit Union was chartered in December, 1975 as
Dupont K.P. Employees Federal Credit Union and is located in
Kinston, North Carolina. In 1996, the credit union became Carolina Family Federal Credit Union. Since gaining its community charter on August 1, 2005, membership in Carolina Family Credit Union has been open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Lenoir County.
About Self-Help Credit Union
Self-Help Credit Union is an affiliate organization of Self-Help (www.self-help.org). Self-Help is a North Carolina-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity through financing for home ownership, small businesses, and community facilities; downtown revitalization and affordable housing development; responsible lending advocacy; and by providing responsible consumer financial services for its members.
Carolina Family CU Merges with Self-Help Credit Union
Merger date: May 1, 2010
The merger makes Carolina Family CU a division of Self-Help Credit Union. Carolina Family CU joins Cape Fear Credit Union, Scotland Community Credit Union, Wilson Community Credit Union, Carolina Mountains Credit Union, and Choice Community Credit Union to become the newest division of Self-Help Credit Union.
